About This Blog

For a while, I had known I have certain behaviours that could be linked to Asperger Syndrome. Towards the end of 2011, taking into account one diagnosed and two undiagnosed Aspies in the family, I came to the conclusion that I had Aspergers myself.

I already knew a bit about AS from my experience, and a bit of light research, but reading deeper into the subject I became sure that I have mild Aspergers. So many things I read struck a chord with me, but quite a bit didn't. I don't feel I need a diagnosis, and it's hard enough getting one anyway. I haven't read all the books and papers out there, but one thing I find lacking is literature aimed at me, the young adult trying to find ways to live like a neurotypical person.

Quite a lot is written to help parents 'deal' with their young child's disorder. Although I acknowledge and accept that not all NTs can handle someone with Aspergers, something that can be ignored is that not all Aspies can handle NTs.

Sitting in the shallow end of the pool that is Asperger Syndrome, I hope to be able to explore my own, for want of a better word, condition, and help people deeper in understand a world that can be confusing or even bewildering. Although I'm aiming this at people with the syndrome, some neurotypical people may find it useful in their understanding of the aspie way of life.
